India Strengthens Global Leadership in Key Sectors at UNGA Meet with US

India reaffirmed its rising global stature during a high level meeting between External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.

The meeting focused on India’s increasing importance in global affairs, especially in strategic areas like trade, defense, energy, and critical minerals. Dr. Jaishankar underlined India’s commitment to working with international partners to promote global growth, peace, and stability.

Rubio, acknowledging India’s leadership, described the relationship with New Delhi as one of ‘critical importance’ to the United States. He praised India’s engagement across key sectors and expressed confidence in the continued expansion of the partnership.

Dr. Jaishankar posted on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “Had a productive conversation with Secretary Rubio. We touched on several areas of mutual interest and agreed on the value of sustained engagement. We will remain in close contact”.
