India Showcases Women Leadership at World Economic Forum
India plans to establish a "We Lead" lounge at the upcoming World Economic Forum meeting in Davos, emphasizing the significance of investing in women to stimulate economic growth. The 54th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum is scheduled to take place in Davos in January. In a noteworthy move, India will introduce the "We Lead" Lounge to advocate for international dedication to fostering women's leadership. The Indian delegation at Davos will include the Union Minister for Women & Child Development, Smriti Irani.
In collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry and with backing from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the "We Lead" lounge, spearheaded by the Ministry of Women & Child Development, is envisioned as a dedicated space to convey the message of global prosperity driven by women and India's role in it. This specially designed lounge aims to showcase India's progress in development led by women. It will serve as a venue for interactive sessions with global leaders, encompassing politicians, representatives from development institutions, industry professionals, think tanks, and media.
The Sessions would host conversations on key topical thematic areas such as Engendering Health Research- The Economic Opportunity, Investing in Parity -The Double X Factor, The Number Game, Women in Workforce: The Economic Case, Women and AI: Two powerful forces changing the world, Women and Education-From campus to career. The lounge will also host a fireside chat on "investing in women". The Lounge would serve millet-based snacks to the visiting participants from across the world.
