India Receives Bids for Green Hydrogen, Electrolyzer Incentives
Fourteen companies, including Reliance Industries, JSW Energy, Torrent Power, and Bharat Petroleum Corp, have placed bids for incentives as part of India's green hydrogen initiative, as reported by a government agency. Additionally, twenty firms, such as Reliance Industries, Adani Group, Jindal India, Larsen & Toubro, and Bharat Heavy Electricals, have submitted bids for incentives to produce electrolysers, stated the Solar Energy Corp of India.
On Friday, both batches of bids were unveiled, according to the statements. India initiated a $2 billion program in July to encourage the development of green hydrogen and electrolyzer manufacturing through pilot bids. The bids received for green hydrogen production totaled 0.55 million metric tons, surpassing the initially sought-after 0.45 million tons. Notable companies in this bid include Acme Cleantech, Sembcorp Green Hydrogen, CESC, Greenko ZeroC, and Avaada GreenH2.
Regarding the invitation to establish 1.5 gigawatts (GW) of electrolyzer manufacturing capacity, the bids received totaled 3.4 GW, as indicated in the statements. Among the bidders for electrolysers are Waaree Energies, Ohmium Operations, Advait Infratech, and Acme Cleantech Solutions. India's target is to achieve an annual capacity of 5 million tons in green hydrogen production by 2030.
