India Post has rolled out its Advanced Postal Technology (APT) across the country, a move set to transform it into a modern, world-class public logistics organization. Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia announced the development, highlighting that the initiative, backed by an investment of Rs 5,800 crore under IT 2.0, marks a significant milestone in India’s digital journey.
The APT platform brings India Post on par with modern logistics companies by integrating new technology layers, enabling real-time decision-making, and supporting mobile-ready services. One of the key improvements is the ability to accept digital payments from customers of any bank via UPI, expanding beyond the earlier limitation of India Post Payments Bank accounts.
“This fully indigenous platform is aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Digital India and Make in India”, Scindia said. He added that APT will enhance operational efficiency by automating processes, reducing costs, and extending e-commerce reach nationwide.
With this upgrade, India Post aims to provide citizen-first services anytime, anywhere, while strengthening its digital infrastructure. The platform will allow full-fledged digital transactions, improving convenience for millions of users across urban and rural areas.
APT’s nationwide rollout is being hailed as a historic leap, positioning India Post as a modern logistics hub ready for the digital era.
