India Post Infuses Fashion to Revamp Itself--Suggested

BENGALURU: India Post revamped! Yes the ‘honored’ India Post has put in fashion to get rid of its old look or preferably the old look of the postman and postwomen reports Daniel George form Times of India. The senior officials of the post organized a fashion show where 15 postmen and 15 post women walked the ramp in well-dressed new uniforms -side cinches and top three female and male models were selected by the judges.
The man behind the great event, Postmaster General, Chennai City, Mervin Alexander, said senior department officials wanted postmen and postwomen to step out of their old culture, feel confident and stand out in the crowd. "We are trying to reinvent the old postman-and-customer relationship because it's dying a slow death," he said.
Out of 250 entries in the preliminary rounds only 15 postmen and 15 postwomen made it to the final round. The postwomen those to wear traditional khaki salwar kameezes, with smart shirts over them, and to cheer them up there were women in the audience who had come in traditional Kancheepuram sarees. The postmen also wore smart khaki uniform with the postal department's triplewing swoosh.
Each model walked the ramp twice like professionals, posing with dramatic effect before the judges?? Swirling around and leaving. The women too walked the ramp with poise
Participant G Manoharan said "Normally we are a neglected lot. Some security guards even feel we are nuisance, no understanding that we are only doing our job". "This event has given all of us so much more confidence that I'm certain will help us do better. The new uniforms also make us look better," he said.
