Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted India’s growing global stature, asserting that the world is keenly observing the country’s rapid economic and strategic rise. Speaking at a media summit, he emphasized how India has become a focal point of international interest due to its growth trajectory.
“Today, the world's eyes are on India. It is eagerly watching us to know and understand what India is thinking today”, PM Modi stated, reflecting on the country’s increasing influence.
Highlighting India’s economic progress, the Prime Minister noted that the nation has ascended from the 11th to the 5th largest economy under the NDA government. He said that global powers now view India with hope and excitement.
“India First has become the mantra of India’s foreign policy,” he declared, stressing a shift from maintaining equal distance from all nations to an approach of “Equi-Closeness” – being equally close to all. He underscored that India’s opinions, innovations, and efforts are being valued on global platforms like never before.
PM Modi also reaffirmed India’s commitment to shaping the global order rather than merely participating in it. He recalled India’s crucial role in global security, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, and highlighted its contributions to international cooperation.
He spoke about India’s leadership in sustainable energy solutions, particularly through the International Solar Alliance (ISA), which has garnered participation from over 100 countries. This initiative, he said, addresses climate concerns and secures energy needs, particularly for Global South nations.
Discussing India’s strategic initiatives, the Prime Minister pointed to the India–Middle East–Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC), a transformative project aimed at boosting economies and strengthening global supply chains.
PM Modi also lauded India’s role in making the African Union a permanent member of the G-20, calling it a progressive step toward a more inclusive and democratic global order.
“These efforts have cemented India's strong presence in the new world order. This is just the beginning, as India's global influence continues to grow,” he concluded.
