India Becomes the Largest Marketplace For Amazon Business

Amazon Business, the B2B platform for the e-commerce giant, is making rapid strides in India where it has become the biggest marketplace for the company outside the United States.

The e-commerce behemoth's B2B network, Amazon Business, is expanding quickly in India, where it has become its largest market outside of the US. Since the platform's debut in India about six years ago, its customer base has increased 68 percent annually, accelerating over the last three years, and more than 6.5 lakh sellers using the platform. The Amazon Business Director remarked that they aim to understand and cater to the distinct needs of MSMEs through their customer backward approach.

Since its opening in 2017, Amazon Business has worked to support MSMEs by serving as a one-stop shop with a broad assortment of office supplies, affordable prices, and an extensive delivery network. Amazon is the largest retailer in the country, offering more than 16 crore GST-eligible goods. Over 6.5 lakh sellers, up from 14,000 when they first began. The marketplace provides simple online purchasing, a large customer and seller base, and the resources to handle purchasing effectively. MSMEs benefit from the savings in time and money, as well as the knowledge gained to make wise purchasing choices. Utilizing its widely spread network of fulfillment centers throughout the country, Amazon transports 99.5 percent of the country’s pin codes.  Today, tier II and tier III cities account for more than 30 percent of clients and 25 percent of the company’s orders. Amazon Business has seen a 5X rise in customers over the past three years, as well as a 4X increase in overall sales.

With a CAGR of 68 percent in customer base, Amazon has witnessed exponential development, making the Indian Amazon Business marketplace the second-largest after the US. Additionally, we noticed a 42 percent rise in monthly active customers. At Amazon Business, they adopt a customer-backward strategy, using customer feedback to integrate new features and initiatives that help MSMEs produce more. The company has introduced several features, including bill-to-ship, multi-user accounts, credit extension, digital catalogs, and post-spend analytics, to address the challenges encountered by MSMEs in India. To meet the evolving requirements of businesses, Amazon keeps on adding products. The company has specialized stores like Office supply stores, quantity deals,  savings hubs, and gifting stores to help customers find products as per their requirements - all curated in one place - to help simplify the buying experience for our customers. Thousands of items, including business laptops, networking equipment, industrial adhesives, tools and equipment, safety, and security, and more, are available in our commercial shop from renowned manufacturers.

Amazon Business caters to the various requirements of MSMEs and gives them unique options to overcome their difficulties. For organizations in tier I cities, for example, there might be some particular answers needed that wouldn't necessarily work in tier II and tier III regions. In addition to its standard features and benefits, they also offer many advantages to MSMEs in deeper areas. By supporting numerous languages, Amazon Business eliminates language barriers. The company provides a variety of delivery choices to lower logistics costs. MSMEs in regions with poor connectivity will benefit from this.

By offering a dependable and effective platform for businesses to make online purchases of goods and services, Amazon Business is digitally revolutionizing procurement in India and supporting the Digital India goal. They give small and medium businesses access to goods and supplies they frequently need at discounted rates. Moreover, Amazon offers the widest range of cost-effective goods because of GST input tax credits, bulk discounts, and business-only offers.
