India and Israel Strengthen Defence Ties with New Cooperation Pact

India and Israel have signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on defence cooperation, marking another milestone in their long-standing strategic partnership. The pact aims to create a unified vision and strengthen collaboration across key areas of mutual interest.

The agreement was formalized during the 17th meeting of the Joint Working Group (JWG) on defence cooperation held in Tel Aviv, co-chaired by Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh from India and Maj Gen (Res) Amir Baram, Director General of the Israeli Ministry of Defense.

According to India’s Ministry of Defence, the MoU outlines several new areas of cooperation, including training, defence industrial partnerships, research and development, technological innovation, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity. Both nations aim to share advanced technologies and promote co-development and co-production of defence equipment.

The JWG reviewed ongoing defence initiatives and noted that both countries have gained significantly from each other’s strengths. Discussions also focused on enhancing operational capabilities, tackling shared security challenges, and strengthening cooperation in science and technology.

The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to counter terrorism and boost collaboration to address emerging global threats.

India’s Defence Ministry emphasized that the India-Israel partnership is built on mutual trust and shared security interests, while Israel’s Defence Ministry confirmed that the Indian delegation also met with Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz during the visit.
