IIM Udaipur Partners to Advance India's Data and AI Ecosystem

IIM Udaipur signs key collaborations with MoSPI, NITI Aayog, and Bhashini
Focus on improving data analytics, monitoring systems, and AI for Indian languages
Aims to build capacity through research, training, and real world applications

IIM Udaipur has joined hands with major national institutions to strengthen India’s ecosystem in data science, monitoring, and artificial intelligence (AI). The institute announced three landmark partnerships with the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), NITI Aayog’s Development Monitoring and Evaluation Office (DMEO), and Bhashini, a part of the National Language Translation Mission.

As a Knowledge Partner to MoSPI’s Data Innovation Lab, IIM Udaipur will involve its students, researchers, and faculty in solving real world statistical challenges. The collaboration aims to drive innovation in data analytics and applied statistics through hackathons, workshops, and joint research efforts.

In a separate move, IIM Udaipur’s Centre for Development Policy and Management (CDPM) signed an agreement with NITI Aayog’s DMEO to help improve India’s monitoring and evaluation systems. The focus will be on adapting global best practices for Indian needs, training policymakers, and offering technical support for state and central government programmes.

Additionally, IIM Udaipur has become an empanelled member under Anusandhan Mitra in partnership with Bhashini. This initiative promotes AI and machine learning applications for Indian languages, especially under represented ones. It will focus on creating regional AI hubs, improving language datasets, and building student skills in speech and language technologies.

Prof. Ashok Banerjee, Director of IIM Udaipur, said these partnerships reflect the institute’s mission to combine academic expertise with real world impact, especially in data driven policy and inclusive technology.
