IIM Lucknow Marks 41st Foundation Day with Inspiring Leadership and Community Spirit

The Indian Institute of Management Lucknow (IIM Lucknow) marked a significant milestone as it celebrated its 41st Foundation Day with grandeur, reflection, and community celebration. The event brought together faculty, staff, students, alumni, and distinguished guests to honor the institute’s legacy of academic excellence and its commitment to shaping responsible leadership.
A major highlight of the celebration was the Foundation Day Lecture delivered by Ms. Neha Prakash (IAS), Director of Training and Employment, Government of Uttar Pradesh, and an alumna of IIM Lucknow, Class of 2011. Drawing from her journey from engineering and consulting to public service, Ms. Prakash shared an inspiring account of how her education at IIM Lucknow helped shape her approach to leadership one grounded in analytical thinking, ethics, and empathy.
In her keynote address, she reflected, “The transition from corporate boardrooms to district headquarters imparted a singular truth: a genuine leader, regardless of the domain, must serve individuals with empathy, be anchored in ideals, and maintain composure throughout adversity”. She also emphasized the transformative power of accessible and data-driven governance in creating lasting societal impact.
Welcoming the community, Prof. M.P. Gupta, Director of IIM Lucknow, said, “We are proud to celebrate the 41st Foundation Day of IIM Lucknow, a milestone that reflects our journey of academic excellence, innovation, and societal impact. This day reaffirms our commitment to nurturing responsible leaders and fostering transformative education”. He extended heartfelt appreciation to the institute’s faculty, students, alumni, and partners for their continued support and contributions.
Several deans and senior faculty members were also present at the event, including Prof. Sanjeet Singh (Dean, Faculty), Prof. Sanjay Singh (Dean, Programmes), Prof. Sanjeev Kapoor (Dean, Research), and Prof. Sushil Kumar (Dean, Infra & CAO), highlighting the collaborative spirit that drives the institute’s vision.
The celebrations featured a variety of activities reinforcing IIM Lucknow’s strong community values and emphasis on inclusivity:
- Tree Plantation Drive: Reflecting the institute’s commitment to sustainability, the event began with a tree plantation drive that saw active participation from students, faculty, and staff.
- Sports Competitions: A series of sporting events held from July 12 to July 25 promoted physical well-being and camaraderie among the IIM Lucknow community. Winners were felicitated during a prize distribution ceremony on July 25.
- Employee Recognition: The institute honored Mr. A. Murali, System Analyst, for his 25 years of dedicated service with a special memento.
- Cash Awards for Meritorious Children: Six children of IIM Lucknow employees were awarded cash prizes for their outstanding academic achievements, showcasing the institute’s support for educational excellence beyond its immediate student body.
- Cultural Program: The celebrations concluded with a vibrant cultural showcase featuring performances by children from the campus community and Post Graduate Programme students. The event was capped with a prize distribution to all participants, further reinforcing the inclusive and celebratory atmosphere of the day.
Through an inspiring lecture, meaningful recognitions, and festive celebrations, IIM Lucknow’s 41st Foundation Day paid tribute to its enduring legacy while embracing a dynamic future centered around leadership, innovation, and societal impact.
