HCL Tech opens 5G infra testing labs in Chennai
IT major HCL Tech has introduced advanced 5G technology test labs at Ambattur and Sholinganallur in Chennai to help telecom infrastructure original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to test and validate 5G solutions.
The facilities can accommodate over 100 people, and the group is set to be a mix of existing HCLTech staff and new hires, a company spokesperson said. The investment in these centres remains undisclosed.
It is equipped with high-end scanners that enable OEMs to test large cellular base stations as well as small form factor antennas used in mobile phones, smart gadgets, health monitoring systems and remote surveillance systems.
The team in the labs will also be leveraged to develop tools and frameworks that are necessary in the field for 5G and also to develop PoCs for enterprise 5G use cases of global enterprises. It will also provide hands-on training for HCLTech employees. RF/antenna design, development, testing and validation, network slicing etc. will be some of the key skill sets of people working in the lab.
“We’re committed to advancing next-gen mobile telephony with the highest levels of quality, performance and technology. We have a team of highly experienced and skilled engineers to test and verify cellular and non-cellular products with great precision,” Vijay Guntur, President, Engineering and R&D Services, HCLTech, said.
