Google Launches Wallet App in India
Google has introduced its Wallet app in India, aiming to provide users with secure and convenient access to essential digital documents such as boarding passes, loyalty cards, and event tickets. The app is now available for download from the Play Store, catering to all Android users in the country.
"We are excited to partner with many of India's top brands to offer a comprehensive solution that helps you securely access and manage your everyday essentials. From boarding passes to loyalty cards and event tickets to public transport passes, they're there when you need them", said Ram Papatla, General Manager and India Engineering Lead, Android at Google.
The new app complements Google Pay, which continues to serve users' payment needs across India. In collaboration with 20 leading Indian brands, including Air India, Indigo, Flipkart, Pine Labs, Kochi Metro, Abhibus, PVR & INOX, and more, Google Wallet offers an enhanced experience for users. The company plans to add more partners in the upcoming months.
"We are glad to be the first airline from India to make our boarding passes available directly on the Google Wallet", said Satya Ramaswamy, Chief Digital and Technology Officer, Air India.
Google Wallet enables users to conveniently save movie or event tickets, access boarding passes, redeem loyalty or gift cards, ride public transit, and digitize physical documents. This new app brings more efficiency and ease to everyday transactions and document management for Indian users.
