Global Climate Leader Joins India's STEER World to Boost Sustainable Innovation

STEER World, a global leader in materials transformation technologies, has announced the appointment of Mr. Ovais Sarmad, former Deputy Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), to its Advisory Board.
Mr. Sarmad brings over 30 years of experience in climate policy, global governance, and sustainable development. During his time at the UNFCCC, he played a key role in supporting the implementation of the Paris Agreement and was actively involved in major climate negotiations from COP23 to COP27, including the establishment of the Loss and Damage Fund. Prior to this, he held senior leadership positions at the International Organization for Migration (IOM), including Chief of Staff and Director of Resource Management, contributing to major institutional reforms and global policy initiatives.
A Chartered Management Accountant (UK) and an Osmania University, India graduate, Mr. Sarmad currently serves as Vice-Chair of the GHG Protocol Steering Committee. He also advises on sustainability, climate action, and youth engagement. His expertise in building values-driven institutions and promoting sustainable development will guide STEER World in advancing its mission of responsible technological innovation.
