Flipkart Partners with NCERT to Broaden Access to Educational Books
In a significant step towards democratizing access to education, Flipkart, India’s leading e-commerce marketplace, has signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT). This collaboration aims to make NCERT publications affordable and seamlessly accessible to students and learners across the country, including those in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.
The partnership, formalized on December 16 at NCERT’s Delhi office, was attended by Hon’ble Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister of Education, Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State for Education and Skill Development, and Rajneesh Kumar, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Flipkart Group, along with officials from the Ministry of Education and NCERT.
Flipkart will leverage its vast technological and logistical network to facilitate the sale and distribution of NCERT publications through authorized sellers designated by NCERT. The initiative ensures wider access to authentic, high-quality content, supporting students, parents, and educators across both urban and rural India.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan highlighted the transformative potential of the partnership. “NCERT has played a pivotal role in shaping India’s education system. This collaboration with Flipkart is a significant step toward ensuring affordable and accessible education for all. Leveraging Flipkart’s extensive reach will empower students in even the most remote areas, aligning with the objectives of the National Education Policy 2020. Initiatives like these, combined with technology-driven solutions such as the NISHTHA Integrated Teacher Training Module, will create a future-ready generation to lead India’s growth story”, he said.
Rajneesh Kumar, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer of Flipkart Group, reiterated the company’s commitment to empowering students nationwide. “Education is the cornerstone of progress, and we are proud to partner with NCERT to make learning resources accessible to millions of students.
