In the wake of increasing cyberattacks and internet fraud, the new Digital Jan Shakti program will become a key leap towards a secure India's digital future, Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth stated.
Seth stated this while launching the Digital Jan Shakti initiative by CyberPeace, a top cybersecurity non-profit organization, in partnership with InMobi, India's first unicorn. The pathbreaking initiative is to promote digital security and cybersecurity expertise among the youth and underprivileged communities in India.
"'Digital Jan Shakti' is an important step towards making India's digital future secure. In a world where cyber threats are changing at a lightning speed, I congratulate CyberPeace and InMobi for this initiative that will equip our youth and underprivileged communities with cybersecurity skills", said Seth.
He added that the initiative “is not just necessary; it is imperative, and these efforts will go a long way in bridging the digital divide and ensuring no citizen is left vulnerable to online scams”,
Aligned with PM Narendra Modi’s vision of a safe and productive internet, the ‘Digital Jan Shakti’ initiative aims to empower India’s youth and underserved communities with cyber resilience.
"Given the growing cyber attacks, especially concerning scams such as 'Digital Arrests', this initiative aims at raising consciousness, cultivating safe online habits, and forming a digitally awake society, said Dr. Subi Chaturvedi, Global SVP & Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, InMobi".
“Our first phase will reach over 10,000 beneficiaries and will be a nationwide bottom-up movement”, she added. Major Vineet Kumar, Founder and Global President, CyberPeace said the ‘Digital Jan Shakti’ initiative is a transformative step towards creating a cyber-resilient India.
It will provide youth, women, and marginalized communities with essential cybersecurity training. The inaugural workshop of the program, which was held in Ranchi, saw keen interest from more than 500 underprivileged people, who participated in interactive sessions on key cybersecurity issues like secure online behavior, learning best practices to safeguard personal data, identifying phishing scams, and keeping social media private.
