Delhi Polls: Key Constituencies and Contenders

BENGALURU: The most awaited Delhi elections are truly on finally taking a shape after going through some dramatic scenes. Delhi’s infuriated population is going to decide Delhi’s future and definitely not ready to go through paralytic governance yet again. The numero-unos of all the major political parties are on field to fight the electoral battle.

The Economic Times Bureau has listed most important warriors of this electoral war. Here are the details of the heroes and their war zones.

Aravind Kejiriwal’s Very Own New Delhi: New Delhi constituency is the queen of all the constituencies as always, with top players paying big tickets for the seat here. KejiriwalThe top contenders here are Arvind Kejiriwal who defeated the three time Congress Chief Minister—Sheila Dixit in 2013 elections. Kejiriwal has much to prove since his party disappointed the constituency in the subsequent Lok Sabha polls. Dixit opted out of the race this time for obvious reasons and has been replaced with Kiran Walia, a Congress loyalist and cabinet colleague. And a former Delhi University Students Union President Nupur Sharma is fielded by the BJP.

Kiran Bedi, Bagga and Bansi to Strike the Krishna Nagar Constituency: Krishna Nagar is the safest place for Kiran Bedi to contest from. This constituency has been nurtured by BJP by Union Minister Harsh Vardan for a very long time. Moreover it was BJP’s tradition to pitch the most prospective candidate in this particular area. Luckily enough, it is Kiran Bedi’s turn to adopt BJP’s bastion here. Congress’s sitting Councillor Bansi Lal and AAP’s SK Bagga are pitched against her. Frankly she is facing a minimum opposition in Krish Nagar, all thanks to the faithful RSS-BJP cadre in the constituency.
