Deepak Fertilizers MD Sailesh Mehta Elected New FAI Chairman

Sailesh C Mehta, Managing Director of Deepak Fertilizers and Petrochemicals Corporation Ltd (DFPCL), has been elected as the new chairman of the Fertiliser Association of India (FAI). He succeeds N Suresh Krishnan, Managing Director of Paradeep Phosphates Ltd, who previously held the position.
With over 40 years of experience in the fertiliser industry, Mehta brings extensive expertise to the role. He has previously served as the Chairman of FAI’s Western Region for more than five years. In addition to his responsibilities at DFPCL, Mehta is also the Chairman and Managing Director of Mahadhan AgriTech Ltd, a subsidiary of Deepak Fertilizers.
Expressing his commitment to the role, Mehta stated, “I am truly privileged to serve as a bridge between government, industry, and farmers acting as a catalyst to elevate Indian farmers and farm productivity on the world map”.
He highlighted India’s remarkable transformation from a nation grappling with food scarcity to becoming a leading global agricultural exporter. Mehta emphasized the continuing crucial role of the fertiliser industry in this progress, with an increasing focus on balanced and nutrient-efficient fertilisers that promote sustainable agricultural growth.
His appointment is expected to strengthen collaboration between stakeholders and drive innovation to support India’s agricultural development and sustainability goals.
