Kottayam:Accusing the UPA government for "failing to curb price rise and corruption", CPI Deputy General Secretary Sudhakar Reddy claimed if the government confiscated the black money stashed away abroad and distributed it to citizens, each would get Rs two lakh.
Addressing a 'meet the press' programme , Reddy claimed the amount of black money stashed away abroad had risen from about Rs 30 lakh crore in to about Rs 200 lakh crore. If the hidden black money was confiscated, it could be used to uplift the downtrodden, he said.
Reddy said the credibility of the government had "fallen" following the surfacing of scams including the 2G spectrum allocation, Commonwelath Games and Aadarsh housing, where he alleged Congress leaders were "directly involved".
