CM-Designate Arvind Kejriwal To Meet PM Modi
NEW DELHI: Chief Minister-designate Arvind Kejriwal, whose Aam Aadmi Party decimated the rivals in the Delhi Assembly election, will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi tomorrow and invite him for the swearing-in ceremony at Ramlila Maidan on February 14.
“We had sought time from the Prime Minister, Kejriwal will be meeting him tomorrow at 10.30 AM. He will also extend an invitation to him for the oath ceremony on February 14,” party sources said.
After AAP swept the Delhi polls yesterday in a landslide victory grabbing 67 seats in the 70-member Assembly, the Prime Minister had congratulated Kejriwal on his thumping victory and assured him of all support from the Centre for development of the national capital.
Kejriwal, while thanking Modi for the greetings, had said he would like to meet him soon to discuss issues related to Delhi.
Union Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu today said the Centre will offer all cooperation to the AAP government in Delhi but cautioned Kejriwal of the great responsibility that came with the massive mandate.
"I've assured him that the Centre will cooperate with the state for development of Delhi. We'll be working as 'Team India'. I congratulated him on his great victory but also reminded him of the great responsibility," Naidu said, promising Kejriwal that the Centre will provide all necessary help. "Center and state will work together as Team India. I told them my co-operation depends on their performance."
