Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu invited OpenAI CEO Sam Altman to Amaravati to see the state's vision for AI-led progress. The invitation was a response to Altman's recent comments on India's swift AI adoption and ingenuity.
Altman, in a series of tweets on social media platform X, complimented India on surpassing the world in AI adoption and creativity. His comments followed the massive global demand for OpenAI’s latest image generation tool, which can create Studio Ghibli-style animations.
Responding to Altman’s post, CM Naidu expressed his enthusiasm for India’s growing AI sector and highlighted Andhra Pradesh’s ambitions in emerging technologies. "Yes! India is just taking its first steps, and Andhra Pradesh can become the center for AI-powered innovations. It will be our pleasure to have you visit Amaravati during your next visit to India and discuss our vision with you as we make history", Naidu said.
He also emphasized that the state is not only focused on AI but is also preparing to take a leadership role in quantum technology.
Altman's engagement with India has been closely watched, especially as OpenAI continues to see a surge in demand for its AI-powered tools.
He recently posted an AI-generated anime-style photo of himself as a cricket player, again showing off the promise of creative AI uses.
At the same time, Altman also admitted that the rush of AI adoption has caused capacity issues for OpenAI, which has caused delays in releasing new features.
"We are getting things under control, but you should expect new releases from OpenAI to be delayed, stuff to break, and for service to sometimes be slow as we work through capacity issues", said the OpenAI CEO on X.
He jokingly requested more GPU resources, signifying the growing strain on AI infrastructure driven by increasing user demand.
