Chris Hadfield, in conversation with National Geographic India
Sharing his views with National Geographic about Chandrayaan-3, Canadian astronaut and Former Commander of The International Space Station, Chris Hadfield shares, ‘Chandrayaan-3 is an enormous historical event. The capability of ISRO to not only reach the moon's vicinity but to achieve a controlled descent and successful landing on its surface, particularly focusing on the captivating regions near the south pole basked in perpetual sunlight and hosting water-filled deep craters, signifies a pivotal and ground-breaking juncture. I am eagerly anticipating the approach of Chandrayaan-3 towards its landing, and I am enthralled by the journey leading up to its historic touchdown.’
Expressing his affection for the moon, he further added, ‘The moon holds immense cultural and artistic significance. The months of the calendar that I follow are driven by the moon itself. Countless animal behaviors synchronize with the moon, and it holds a cherished place in our folklore.’
Today, as all eyes are fixated on the moon, National Geographic India is all set to capture the nation's attention through Chandrayaan-3's planned landing with a special live feature at 4pm. While the show will provide unprecedented access to viewers to experience the nail-biting event, it will also provide exclusive insights from eminent astronauts such as Chris Hadfield, Sunita Williams, Rakesh Sharma, the first Indian in space, and many others about the mission's significance for India and its importance.
