Chingari bags #1 ranking among social media apps in India on Google Play

Short video sharing app Chingari hit the number one ranking in India’s social media space on Google Play. Chingari is a home-grown, video-sharing platform founded by Sumit Ghosh, Deepak Salvi, Aditya Kothari, and Biswatma Nayak in November 2018.

The application was created to cater to users all around the country. It is available in 20 different languages, including English and Hindi ensuring that speakers of other languages can use it effectively. Its inclusive nature and the special features it offers helped the app grow to 50 million downloads in just six months. The UI is easy and intuitive and enables users to upload videos quickly.

Chingari has several features that enhance the user experience. It includes filming all kinds of videos, creating voice-over scenes, or creating videos with music in the background. Adding different types of popular filters and effects makes Chingari more captivating and entertaining to users.

It's no surprise that Chingari has overtaken some of the world's best apps in the social media place to garner the top spot.

Chingari launches India’s first cryptocurrency token for a social media platform

Chingari has a firm hold on the pulse of what consumers want. It is India's first social media platform to launch its own crypto-currency called $GARI, including a marketplace for non-fungible tokens, or NFTs. $GARI will allow content creators to set up an e-commerce space for physical merchandise and NFT creations.

In addition, the digital token will enable users of the app to support and fund their favorite artists and creators, which helps creators monetize their content.

Famous Bollywood actor Salman Khan has signed on as the brand ambassador for the NFT marketplace. $GARI was recently launched in October 2021 and raised  $12.3 million within 24 hours  of its live sale on Republic, a crowd equity platform.

Chingari also raised $19 million from multiple crypto-based venture capitalists and an additional $6 million via an IDO or initial dex offering.

The $GARI token is built on the Solana blockchain, one of the most prominent & rapidly growing decentralized networks globally. Chingari will use the funds it raised to launch and grow creator monetization avenues through various web tools.

Chingari was quick to capitalize on the ban of several Chinese video-sharing apps last year as Indian creators sought to find a new platform to share their content. The creator-centric features of Chingari, its monetization opportunities, and all the unique features that the app offers have put it on the path to great success.
