- CERT-In and BITS Pilani have launched an 8-week professional development programme in cybersecurity for government, PSU, and industry professionals.
- The programme, starting July 19, aims to build cyber capacity through structured, practical training open to all domains, even without coding experience.
- Participants will receive a co-branded certificate from CERT-In and BITS Pilani, reflecting academic excellence and national institutional endorsement.
In a landmark initiative aimed at strengthening India's cyber defence ecosystem, the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has partnered with the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani to launch professional development programmes in cybersecurity. This strategic collaboration underscores a shared commitment to building a skilled and resilient cybersecurity workforce across government, public sector undertakings (PSUs), and industry.
Set to commence on July 19, the 8-week programme has been specifically designed for working professionals, even those without prior coding experience. It will be delivered by BITS Pilani through its Centre for Research Excellence in National Security (CRENS) at the Hyderabad Campus, in collaboration with technology partner Rapifuzz, and under the guidance of CERT-In. Upon successful completion, participants will receive a Professional Development Certificate in Cybersecurity, co-branded by CERT-In and BITS Pilani underscoring both institutional credibility and national recognition.
The programme is a direct response to the escalating global cyber threat landscape and the pressing need for advanced capacity-building in cybersecurity. It aims to equip professionals with practical knowledge and skills, aligned with current industry demands and national security priorities.
“India’s cyber resilience finds its true strength not only in using and developing indigenous cutting-edge technology, but also in nurturing a vibrant, highly skilled talent pool ready to meet the challenges of the digital and quantum era”, said Dr. Sanjay Bahl, Director General, CERT-In. He emphasized that this collaboration is a key milestone in aligning academic excellence with evolving cybersecurity needs.
Professor V. Ramgopal Rao, Group Vice-Chancellor of BITS Pilani, echoed the sentiment, noting that cybersecurity is not merely a technical issue, but a national imperative. “This program reflects the strength of our academia-industry-government triad, and we are proud to offer it under CERT-In’s guidance”, he stated.
CERT-In, operating under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, is India’s nodal agency for cyber incident response. Its initiatives are central to safeguarding the nation’s digital infrastructure, enhancing cyber resilience, and ensuring robust incident prevention and threat mitigation.
