Cellphones are easily accessible than water

Bangalore: People living in urban and rural areas have more access to television and mobile phones in large number when compared to sanitation or private piped water reveals a survey by Indian Institute of Management - Bangalore which was aimed to understand the access to electronic products and sanitation facilities in rural and urban households.
Rural areas have more access to cell phones which is estimated at 55 percent and TV sets at 60 percent whereas sanitation is just 23 percent and water facilities are 17 percent at their residence. In urban areas, the access to TV is 78 percent and cell phones 91 percent which is higher than their sanitation facilities that are of 67 percent and piped water supply of 45 percent.
Bangalore has a very high standard of living when compared to the other cities in South India, let it be luxury or infrastructure. Overall, sanitation is at an average of 98 percent, piped water supply is 72 percent, TV and cell phones are 90 percent and 91 percent respectively. The parameters are alike in urban and rural areas.
