Castrol India Appoints Kedar Lele as Managing Director from November 2024
Castrol India announced that its Board has approved the appointment of Kedar Lele as the Managing Director (MD), effective November 1, 2024. Lele will initially join as Vice President of Castrol India and South Asia on October 1, 2024, working closely with the current MD, Sandeep Sangwan, to ensure a smooth leadership transition.
Lele holds an MBA from the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad, specializing in Strategic Marketing and Operations Management. He also graduated from Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad, with a specialization in Brand Management and Account Planning. His extensive background spans over 25 years in advertising, internet, FMCG sales and marketing, and general management. Notably, he has spent nearly 20 years at Unilever, demonstrating a consistent track record of leadership and performance.
Throughout his career, Lele has led various business segments including ice creams, infant and feminine hygiene, and channels such as Shakti, Rural, Modern Trade, and e-commerce. This experience provides him with a deep understanding of the complex markets in India and South Asia. 
Commenting on the appointment, the company highlighted Lele's comprehensive knowledge of the region’s market dynamics and his ability to drive growth and innovation. "Kedar's rich experience and proven leadership will be instrumental as we continue to strengthen our market position and expand our portfolio in the coming years", a company spokesperson said.
Castrol India is renowned for its leading lubricant brands, including Castrol CRB, Castrol GTX, Castrol Activ, Castrol MAGNATEC, and Castrol VECTON. The company also operates in specialized segments like high-performance lubricants and metalworking fluids, serving industries such as automotive manufacturing, mining, machinery, and wind energy.
The company reported a significant financial performance in the fourth quarter of 2023, with net profit increasing by 25.15% to Rs 241.94 crore, compared to Rs 194.42 crore in the same period the previous year. Revenue from operations also saw a year-on-year increase of 7.49%, reaching Rs 1,264.04 crore for the quarter ending December 31, 2023.
