In the Interim Budget, the government has proposed to withdraw tax demands up to Rs 25,000 for the year 2009-10. This move is expected to benefit around 1 crore taxpayers. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has highlighted that a major focus of the budget is to enhance the services for taxpayers and there would be no changes in tax rates for direct and indirect taxes, including import duties.
