BPCL and IONAGE Extend Partnership to Boost EV Charging Network Across India
Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), a 'Maharatna' company and a member of the Fortune Global 500, has announced the extension of its partnership with IONAGE, a Bangalore-based eMobility service provider. This collaboration seeks to enhance the accessibility and convenience of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure throughout India.
IONAGE brings together charging stations from multiple Charge Point Operators (CPOs), offering customers access to a unified network of EV chargers through a single platform, making it easier for EV owners. The success of BPCL’s BPC eDrive Initiative, launched in February 2022, has driven this extended partnership, which integrates BPCL’s EV chargers into IONAGE’s platform.
Pardeep Goyal, Business Head of Retail at BPCL, commented on the collaboration, stating, “We are pleased to extend our partnership with IONAGE. At BPCL, customer accessibility and convenience are priorities in the utilisation of charging infrastructure. This partnership will allow customers to use BPCL chargers through IONAGE's aggregation platform”.
Vimal Kumar, CEO of IONAGE, added, "At IONAGE, our goal is to create a comprehensive ecosystem that meets the needs of all electric vehicle owners and operators. Partnering with BPCL, known for offering fast EV charging facilities, is an important step toward making EV charging more accessible and reliable across India". The agreement was signed by S. Kannan, Chief General Manager of Marketing (Retail) at BPCL, and Shri Vimal Kumar, CEO of IONAGE, in the presence of Shri Pardeep Goyal.
India's shift towards electric mobility is gaining momentum, driven by government policies and growing consumer interest. The expansion of public charging stations is essential to achieving the country's EV adoption targets by 2030. The partnership between BPCL and IONAGE highlights the critical role of industry collaboration in advancing EV infrastructure.
IONAGE aims to integrate over 100,000 EV chargers onto its platform by 2028. BPCL’s ongoing collaborations, including its partnership with IONAGE, align with its commitment to advancing India’s EV infrastructure and supporting the nation’s transition to electric mobility. By incorporating its chargers into IONAGE’s platform, BPCL seeks to improve convenience and accessibility for customers, contributing to India's EV targets for 2030.
