Bengaluru, Kolkata Slowest Metro Cities: Survey
BENGALURU: A survey by the OLA brings out that Bengaluru and Kolkata are the slowest moving metros in terms of car driving speed. This of course explains why Bangaloreans are the last persons to reach office along with the Kolkata workforce. However in Chennai, the southern metro professionals reach office by 9.30 resports TOI.
The survery of the OLA also brings out that the fastest riding speed in the metros is 33kmph which can only be picked between 3am-5am, when the traffic snarls. The speed list has been topped by Delhi and Pune (both 23kmph). The cities are fastest metros in terms of on-road travel.
Kolkata and Bengaluru stand at 17kmph and 18kmph respectively, being the slowest.
The scene is fair in Chennai (20), Mumbai (21) and Hyderabad (19).
Across the seven metropolitan cities, average time people take to reach office is 34.8kms.
For all the metros, between 9 and noon, the peak for office travellers, the average speed remains at 19kmph. This rises to 1kmph during noon and 3pm.
In Bengaluru, specific mention has been made of Domlur and Silk Board junctions for notorious traffic, by the survey called How India Travels.
COO of Ola, Pranay Jivrajka comments "Hundreds of thousands of vehicles on the Ola app help relay rich data in real-time, helping us predict demand and plan our inventory better. A lot of this data can also be useful to solve important issues like de-congestion, urban planning, traffic management and more."
