Ayodhya Deepotsav 2024: UP govt prepares for New Record

First Deepawali after the consecration ceremony of Lord Ram Lalla in Ayodhya is to be celebrated divinely. This time, there's going to be divine drama as more than 25 lakh earthen lamps will glow at 55 ghats in the city.

With the guidance of UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, preparations are working at full steam to make this Diwali an event with yet another record globally witnessed. As per the sources, more than 2.5 million diyas are likely to be lit up at 55 ghats of Ramnagari on Chhoti Deepawali.

Vice Chancellor of Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University Prof Pratibha Goyal has also been deputed for the exercise. University administrators want to see 30,000 volunteers ensure Ayodhya enters the Guinness Book of World Records for the seventh time.

This is the first Deepotsav after Lord Shri Ram's Pran Pratishtha ceremony.

The date for registration of participants for the Deepotsav has been extended until October 15. Volunteer ID cards will start distribution from October 20.

The exercise of delivering diyas at the ghats would begin from 26th October, after which, on 27th October, volunteers would start placing them at various places. On 30th October, the diyas would be lit up. A total of 90,000 liters of mustard oil would be used in the successful execution of the momentous exercise.

According to Prof S.S. Mishra, nodal coordinator of the event, "Over 30,000 volunteers, 14 colleges, 37 inter-colleges, and 40 NGOs will contribute to lighting up 2.8 million diyas on 55 ghats of Ram ki Paidi. Mapping work for the event has already started, and ghat marking work will start on October 17 or 18".

Media in charge of the event, Dr Vijayendu Chaturvedi said, "With the support of the district administration and the university, final preparations are underway to make this year's Deepotsav a historic event".
