AWS to Launch AWS Marketplace for Software Solutions in India
Amazon Web Services (AWS) has planned to introduce its AWS Marketplace in India later this year, providing a platform for finding and transacting software solutions for Indian businesses. The news was shared by Sandeep Dutta, President of AWS India and South Asia, at his keynote session during the AWS Summit. Dutta termed the launch as a "UPI moment for enterprise software procurement", indicating a significant change in the way businesses will consume digital tools.
AWS Marketplace will enable customers in India to find, buy, and deploy software, data, and services from a wide selection of AWS Partners. Importantly, transactions will be supported in Indian rupees (INR) with various payment options such as net banking, credit cards, and UPI supporting India's digital-first economy.
Dutta also reiterated the long-term investment of AWS in India, calling out a budgeted investment of USD 16.4 billion (around Rs 13.87 lakh crore) by 2030 to enhance digital transformation. AWS already has regions in Hyderabad and Mumbai and plans to continue to enable India's drive toward becoming a USD 1 trillion digital economy.
Amidst India's accelerated digital growth, our investment and enhancement of offerings such as AWS Marketplace will enable all businesses to innovate more quickly and grow securely," Dutta further added.
