Ankiti Bose to be First Indian Female Founder of a Unicorn.

How Ankiti Bose accomplished to build Zilingo that was valued at 970 million dollars recently, standing close to earning its unicorn status.

FREMONT, CA: Owing to the rapid success of Zilingo, Ankiti Bose, 29-years old woman, has earned the title of a legend when it comes to entrepreneurship. In 2015, she co-founded Zilingo, a business-to-business e-commerce platform, with Dhruv Kapoor. With this start-up, she is on the fast track to becoming the first Indian woman to have founded a billion-dollar start-up. Since she achieved so in a short span of time, it would seem as though entrepreneurship was in her DNA, however surprisingly she had a very humble upbringing. She was bought by her mother, who was a college lecturer and her father, who worked for the government due to which Ankiti had to move from one small Indian city to another quite often.

When Ankiti, a former Mckinsey and company management consultant was asked how she made this fateful leap into entrepreneurship, she replied to The CEO Magazine that it was just her foolish courage involved in starting up. She further added how she saw the opportunity for growth in the South-East Asia region as it appeared to be phenomenal since it was super under-penetrated. Moreover, she figured if she had over-analysed the situation, the decision would have been much harder. Ankiti has highly contributed to Zilingo's current valuation of 970 million dollars, which is just 30 million dollars shy of the magical 1 billion dollars figure to earn its full unicorn status.

While that is a wonderful accomplishment that most businesses only dream about, Ankiti is more excited about Zilingo's impact than its status. She also admitted that being a unicorn company was never the goal, as it was more about working in fashion than just selling clothes to business. The main aim for Zilingo was to make fashion genuinely more fair, transparent and sustainable.
