Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy inaugurated Infosy's software development center in Visakhapatnam, a facility spanning 83,750 sq ft, constructed at a cost of Rs 35 crore. This center is expected to accommodate 1,000 employees. Reddy expressed his optimism about Vizag's potential to become a tier-1 city, comparable to Hyderabad, Bengaluru, or Chennai, addressing Infosys employees and executives during the opening.
He noted the absence of a tier-1 city in the southern state following the division of united Andhra Pradesh, emphasizing Vizag's potential for such status. Reddy mentioned his plan to govern from Vizag, although this move has been postponed until December, despite earlier assurances of relocating his office in September. He has instructed officials to search for suitable premises in the coastal city for his government operations. Infosys CFO Nilanjan Roy highlighted the center's role in offering new opportunities for local talent.
