Air India Unveils New Airbus A350 on Delhi-London Heathrow Route
Tata Group-owned Air India has introduced the Airbus A350-900 aircraft on its Delhi-London Heathrow route, enhancing its service to a twice-daily frequency. The A350-900 will replace the Boeing 777-300ER and Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner on 14 of the 17 weekly flights, resulting in an additional 336 seats per week on the route.
The new A350 aircraft feature 28 private suites with full-flat beds in Business Class, 24 seats in a dedicated Premium Economy cabin, and 264 seats in Economy Class. This upgrade is aimed at elevating the travel experience with state-of-the-art amenities and improved comfort.
Campbell Wilson, CEO and Managing Director of Air India, highlighted the significance of the A350 deployment, stating, "This marks a significant milestone for Air India and demonstrates our commitment to providing a world-class travel experience".
Passengers will benefit from the latest-generation inflight entertainment system, offering over 3,000 hours of content, soon to be complemented by onboard Wi-Fi. Business and Premium Economy guests will enjoy upgraded dining experiences with 'Vista Verve' chinaware and new uniforms designed by Manish Malhotra for the flight and cabin crew.
The A350's Panasonic eX3 in-flight entertainment system includes HD screens with content available in 13 international and eight Indian regional languages, plus over 100 hours of children's programming. The menu caters to both Indian and international tastes, presented in elegant chinaware with India-inspired designs.
Air India began inducting the A350 earlier this year, initially operating them on domestic and short-haul international routes. The new aircraft are set to enhance long-haul flights with their advanced features and increased capacity.
