Air India, in collaboration with Airbus, has launched an advanced pilot training centre at the Air India Aviation Training Academy in Gurugram, Haryana. The state-of-the-art facility is a 50:50 joint venture and aims to train over 5,000 new pilots in the next decade, supporting India's fast growing aviation sector.
Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu inaugurated the centre alongside senior leaders from Airbus, Air India, and the Tata Group. Spanning 12,000 sq metres, the centre includes 10 Full Flight Simulators (FFSs), high tech classrooms, and briefing rooms. It will provide training for Airbus A320 and A350 aircraft and is certified by both India’s DGCA and Europe’s EASA.
Currently, the centre has two A320 simulators in operation, with six more A320 and two A350 simulators to be installed soon. This ensures that Air India’s growing pilot base will be trained to the highest global standards.
Campbell Wilson, MD & CEO of Air India, said, “With 570 new aircraft on order, this training centre will help us upskill the talent needed to power our global ambitions”.
