AIM 2.0 to Drive Innovation Through Collaboration: Jitendra Singh
Union Minister Jitendra Singh has highlighted AIM 2.0 as a crucial initiative to strengthen India's innovation ecosystem through entrepreneurship, public-private partnerships (PPP), and industry linkages. Speaking at a recent event, Singh emphasized the importance of early industry engagement to ensure the sustainability of start-ups while advocating a joint funding model between the government and private sector.
“A collaborative investment approach fosters accountability and shared responsibility, ensuring mutual commitment to a robust innovation ecosystem”, Singh noted.
Acknowledging the achievements of AIM 1.0, Singh addressed concerns regarding AIM 2.0’s transition into a ministerial framework. He called for a hybrid structure that preserves the mission’s intellectual and creative autonomy, citing examples from the space and biotechnology sectors.
“We need a framework that complements efforts without stifling innovation”, he said. The Minister also proposed an aspirational framework to evaluate start-ups based on parameters like publication impact, viability, and livelihood generation, ensuring a structured progression towards AIM 3.0 and beyond.
Separately, at the National Conference on Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, and Blockchain organized by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Singh underlined the critical need to harness emerging technologies for societal benefit while addressing cybersecurity threats.
“Artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain are no longer optional but essential for the future”, he stated. Singh highlighted the dual nature of technological advancements, acknowledging the potential risks posed by malicious actors exploiting next-generation technologies.
The Minister stressed the need for global cooperation to counter cybersecurity challenges and ensure that advancements in AI and blockchain are utilized responsibly. “The challenge lies in maximizing the positive impact of these technologies while mitigating their misuse”, he said.
With AIM 2.0 and its focus on fostering collaborations, Singh expressed optimism for a progressive innovation agenda that aligns with India’s vision of technological leadership and sustainable growth.
