ACES India Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of ACES Saudi Arabia, has secured a contract to provide mobile infrastructure services for Mumbai Metro 3, the city's first fully underground corridors. The agreement between Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRCL) and ACES was formalized during the LEAD-2024 event, a digital conference held in Saudi Arabia on March 4.
Under the 12-year contract, ACES will deliver advanced 4G and 5G technologies to serve over 625 million commuters annually. The mobile infrastructure services will cover the entire Mumbai Metro 3 line, spanning 33.5 kilometers with 27 stations, platforms, concourses, and tunnels, ensuring seamless coverage for an enhanced user experience.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Ashwini Bhide, Managing Director of MMRCL, expressed pleasure in partnering with ACES India. The collaboration aims to provide uninterrupted mobile connectivity to Metro-3 commuters, offering a rich experience as a leading international neutral digital infrastructure company.
Key figures from MMRCL and ACES were present at the event, including R. Ramana, Bassam A. Al-Bassam, and other officials. The Mumbai Metro 3 project is expected to reduce daily vehicle trips by 450,000 significantly and is slated for an extension from Colaba to Navy Nagar, connecting other metro lines, suburban railways, monorail, inter-city railways, highways, and Mumbai Airport.
With an estimated cost of around Rs 30,000, the project is funded by various agencies, including Japan's JICA. The first phase is anticipated to open later this year, contributing to the city's transportation infrastructure and connectivity.
