A Tale Of 10 Indians With Extraordinary Caliber

7. P. Narayanan Krishnan, Chef turned Social worker:

Madurai-based Narayanan Krishnan started the Akshaya Trust, an NGO in 2002. The trust has been a blessing for many homeless, ailing and hungry people.  In the first year of commencement, Krishnan used his own savings to feed around 30 people. Till date, he is still serving meals to many deprived people. Presently, a shelter home is being built to accommodate homeless. Realizing that there were many Indians living overseas who wanted to contribute to the cause, Krishnan founded Akshaya USA in 2012. The foundation supports the homeless, mentally ill, elderly and the disabled.

8. Kamaladevi Chattopadhyay, women rights activist:

Kamaladevi Chattopadhyay was an Indian social reformer and freedom fighter. She is most remembered for her contribution to the Indian independence movement; for being the driving force behind the renaissance of Indian handicrafts, handlooms, and theatre in independent India; and for upliftment of the socio-economic standard of Indian women by pioneering the co-operative movement. Kamaladevi was a remarkable person, who was endearingly referred to as a romantic rebel and she was well-known for initiating cultural renaissance in India.
