The summit, hosted by Happiest Health, started with a fantastic inaugural address from Mr. Ashok Soota, Executive Chairman of Happiest Minds, to kick-start the day. Attended by over 400 participants, the event dived into the rapidly evolving healthcare landscape, exploring transformative topics such as AI, robotics, and telemedicine this was useful in understanding how emerging technologies are being integrated into actual healthcare practices to improve patient outcomes as well as operating efficiency.
Ashok Soota, in his keynote, emphasized, how technology, especially AI, can make healthcare solutions accessible and affordable across the board in any industry. The cost of AI has shrunk while improving the intelligence and functionality of medical equipment, he said, also noting the growth in importance of Healthcare-as-a-Service (HaaS). HaaS is a very nascent model that enables healthcare innovation on the back of SaaS platforms and has already led to quite significant entrepreneurial activity in India. He further added examples such as Bego and Cloud Physician, which are using AI and SaaS to revolutionize diagnostics and critical care. He added that the enablers of broadband and platforms such as streaming helped open up new growth areas, even as integrating safety standards into disruptive healthcare technologies remain a challenge.
The first panel discussion at the summit was ‘AI & Tech in Healthcare: Is Adoption Happening Fast?’ with panellists that included Mr. Kalyan Sivasailam, Founder and CEO of 5C Network, Dr. Manjiri Bakre, Founder and CEO of OncoStem Diagnostics, and Mr. Niranjan Subbarao, Co-Founder and CEO of Cyclops Medtech. The panel discussed the fast-paced adoption of machine learning and data analytics in healthcare, highlighting how these technologies are revolutionizing diagnostics, tailoring treatment plans, and improving operational efficiency. All these are key steps toward making healthcare more precise and patient-centric.
Dr. Harshavardhan Rao B, Consultant at Ramaiah Memorial Hospital, led an insightful session on ‘AI in Healthcare & Medical Gastroenterology’. He discussed the challenges of integrating AI from a physician's perspective, particularly how reduced human interaction might undermine the trust patients place in their doctors, affecting care quality.
Another notable panel that was ‘Hospitals of Tomorrow’ included names like Mr. Hanuman Jayaram, CTO of CTSI South Asia, Mr. Kumar K.V., Group CIO of Narayana Health, and Mr. Srinivas Iyengar, VP and IG Head – Healthcare & Life Sciences at Happiest Minds. Speaking on the future of healthcare, Mr. Kumar K.V said, "The world was already moving more towards wellness care than illness care, especially post-COVID. He emphasized that patient-centric care models, including genetic therapies for type 1 diabetes and epilepsy, would be more significant. He said that the future of healthcare will see smaller hospitals and more home-based care solutions, enabled by digital technologies. He also foresaw that surgery would be revolutionized by the integration of AI with robotics and that portable diagnostic tools would reduce the number of visits to healthcare facilities”.
The summit successfully cultivated an atmosphere of collaboration, innovation, and deep discussions among the thought leaders and experts who came to discuss the future of healthcare.
