India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) - the premier industry body for the Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) industry in the country, is conducting its flagship event Vision Summit 2020, virtually for the first time, considering the convenience and safety of participants across the globe. This is the 15th edition & the current years’ theme is ‘Intelligent Electronics: Driving self-reliant digital economy: Transforming 1.3 Billion lives.’

The IESA Vision-Summit-2020 is focused to drive initiatives and policies for the Intelligent Electronics & Semiconductor products and solutions that will propel the Government of India’s vision of a self-reliant or an #AtmaNirbharBharat. India’s next decade with us being ‘Atmanirbhar’ in Technology will be with Agri-Tech, Transformative Education, Med-Tech, Automotive, Strategic Security towards the ATMAS (Soul) of Self-Reliant India. Intelligent Electronics is the train, powered by Semiconductors taking ATMAS towards the destination of $1Tn Digital Economy goal for India.

Inaugurating the Vision Summit 2020 Dr. Ashwath Narayan, Deputy Chief Minister & Minister of IT & BT, Govt of Karnataka said, “India’s digital economy generates about USD 200 billion of economic value annually. The country can create over USD 1 trillion of economic value from the digital economy in 2025. According to a recently released IESA report, Electronics Production Market (TAM) alone is expected to contribute USD 300 Bn (30%) to Digital economy in 2025. Karnataka has an estimated GSDP of $220 billion and contributes 64% to India’s ESDM exports and 10% to India’s electronic industrial output. Our State is India’s largest chip design hub, with 85+ chip design companies and 70% of India’s chip designers based here. As stated in the KESDM policy 2017-2022, we aim to stimulate the growth of 2000 ESDM startups during the policy period and create 20 lakh (2 million) new jobs by 2025 via Skill Development, Quality Infrastructure, Ecosystem Support, Encouragement to Start-ups, and Ease of Doing Business”.

The inaugural day featured a powerful line-up of speakers including Dr. Ashwath Narayan, Deputy Chief Minister & Minister of IT & BT, Govt of Karnataka; Ajay Sawhney, Secretary, MeitY Govt of India; Vinod Dham, Founder and  Executive Managing Partner at Indo-US Venture Partners; Nivruti Rai, Country Head, Intel India VP Data Centre Group, Intel Corp.; Deepak Bagla, MD & CEO, Invest India; Dr Manish Gupta, Director, Google Research; John Neuffer, President & CEO, SIA; Padma Bhushan Arogyaswami Paulraj, Professor (research) of Electrical Engineering, Emeritus, Stanford University and many more industry expert took part in panel discussions.
