(6) Adultery Law Biased Against Men

According to a Section 497, adultery is a deliberate consensual association that punishes a man alone for adultery i.e. for having consensual physical with a married woman. In a country like India adultery is considered as legally wrong and is a punishable offense.

It is regarded as illegal in some countries and certain laws have been passed to keep a check over adultery. But this law has faced a serious criticism in India.

How pleasurable it is, if you randomly find 100 note on the road and it’s difficult to find out who is the owner of that money. But if you are aware with the Indian Treasure Trove Act, 1878, you might not take such risk to pick that money on roadside.

According to this law, whenever any treasure exceeding in amount or value 10 rupees is found, the finder shall, as soon as practicable, give to the Collector notice in writing the place where it is found, the nature of amount with date. It might be disappointing to note the details rather than putting in your pocket!
