Synopsys Hosts its 19th Annual SNUG Conference in Bangalore

The Synopsys Users Group (SNUG), the world’s largest community of design engineers, organised its 19th annual SNUG conference in Bangalore. Held at Leela Palace, this two day conference aimed at helping engineers to efficiently tackle the productivity issues that arise while designing chips and electronic systems. The highlight of this year’s conference will be the new electronic design automation (EDA) solutions and techniques to meet the challenges posed by 5-nanometer technology nodes and below.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Pradip K. Dutta, Group VP & Managing Director, Synopsys India and Sri Lanka, says, “As we move closer to completing two decades of SNUG in India, we are committed to making it the leading platform for the electronic design engineering community to connect with each other and learn to innovate from silicon to software. As the semiconductor industry and the ecosystem evolve with the accelerating pace of digital transformation, the center of gravity is moving to the intersection of hardware and software”.

As part of the SNUG 2018, over 70 papers & presentations on design synthesis, low-power implementation & verification, test, mixed-signal verification, IP integration, emulation, virtual prototyping, and FPGA-based prototyping will be featured. Standing true to its stature of being the industry’s premier gathering of semiconductor professionals, the conference witnessed participation from leading industry ecosystem partners such as Platinum Sponsors Arm, GLOBALFOUNDRIES, Samsung, and TSMC, to name a few.

Additionally, the event also feature keynotes from eminent personalities of the semiconductor industry such as Dr. Aart de Geus (Chairman & CEO, Synopsys), Pradeep Elamanchili (VP - Global ASIC Engineering, Western Digital), and a few others. In his keynote – ‘At the Heart if Impact’, Dr. Aart spoke regarding the demand for computation power transforming almost every business irrespective of their industry areas. On the other hand, Pradeep gave a keynote speech ‘Data-Centric World, Opportunities, and Insights’, where he shared deep industry insights about the evolution of big & fast data and technologies that will enable next generation of innovation in Machine Learning and AI.

“All market segments are digitizing themselves, and the semiconductor ecosystem is at the center of making this happen. This transformation is changing and challenging the semiconductor industry as we evolve to a world of Smart Everything that is networked, mobile, and also under increased pressure to become more secure. Synopsys is both humbled and privileged to be in the midst of this transformation,” adds Dr. Aart.
