Bangalore: Lenovo India announced the appointment of Shailendra Katyal as the marketing head of India on March 17, 2011, reports Rahul Sachitanand for The Economic Times. Katyal, an IIM-Calcutta alum, is responsible for building brands in multiple categories from Nihar Natural cosmetics to Hair and Care hair oil for more than a decade now.



Prior to joining Lenovo India, Katyal was the head at Marico. In his decade plus stint at Marico, he had a successful time in sales and marketing. He also had successful stints in managing large brand franchises like Parachute and Saffola. Katyal as a person, is willing to take risks, backs good creativity and always challenges the agency to do better.



In Lenovo, his primary mandate was to aggressively grow Lenovo’s brand preference in the consumer and SOHO (small office home office) segments. Announcing the appointment, Amar Babu, managing director, Lenovo India, said, “We are pleased to appoint Shailendra, a versatile marketing professional, who has proven track record in leading marketing campaigns in consumer brands.”Amar also said, “Shailender has played a key role in Lenovo’s success. He brings with him a deep understanding of the Indian consumer,”as reported by The Economic Times.
