Russia Resurrects the Lesser Known Military Threat

BENGALURU: Russia resurrects the lesser known military threat—the doctorine of maskirovka, a military doctorine developed in the beginning of twentieth century. Maskirovka includes broad range of military deception methods starting from camouflage to denial. With the adoption of this technique, on the country side of Russia onto the green fields the new arsenal was seen tested by red army which included inflatable tanks, missiles, jets and MIG fighters.

The Maskirovka style of operation is also referred to as Russian military deception, with the actuation of which Russia has won many wars. This treachery move of deceiving the combatant has contributed many soviet victories, one of which includes ‘Operation Bagration’ where the clearing of German forces from the eastern part of Poland was successfully performed.

Back on the green fields, onlookers saw MIG, tanks and other military arsenals but later few minutes the field was empty. This phantom situation stunned the spectators. It is not an illusion but an inflated structure used to deceive enemies during combat. These structures can inflate in five minutes and can disappear with the same rate.

Not only arsenal but artilleries are also been sewed and stitched to inflate. The most feared Russia’s weapon—S-300 missile system has also been mocked and inflated in the field. Such mocking helps to create confusion among the combatant by weakening their decision making skills as the commanders take more time in determining whether the target is real or not. Currently, Global Fire Power Ranked Russia second amongst 126 nations in the planet for the current military capabilities and the available firepower in 2016.
