Richest Owners in Sports

Bangalore:The billionaires of the world often own something extravagant like a yacht, an extensive art collection, massive mansions, helicopters, or even a collection of fancy cars but only a few can own a major sports team. Wouldn't owning a sports team be a fantasy come to life? Forbes listed the richest sports owners for the year and heading the pack of the list is our very own Indian, billionaire Mukesh Ambani.

Mukesh Ambani:

Mukesh Ambani takes the top notch and is the richest owner in sports across the world with a net worth of $22.3 billion. The richest man in Asia and nineteenth richest in the world bought the Indian Premier League’s “Mumbai Indians” in 2008. Mukesh is a cricket fanatic. The Chairman of oil and gas conglomerate Reliance Industries supposedly once spent over a million dollars for boxes at the ICC World Cup final. In fact Reliance is a big sponsor of cricket, India’s most popular sport. Mukesh and Reliance have taken advantage of player auctions to upgrade the team, which won the Champions League Twenty20 tournament in 2011.
