Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Independence Day speech will be live-streamed on the Google homepage


Narendra modi jiOn the 72nd Independence Day of India, the Modi-government has decided to broadcast the Independence day speech of the PM Narendra Modi live on Google and its video platform subsidiary YouTube.

It is going to be the first time in the history of India when the PM’s speech goes live on YouTube. The public broadcaster, Prasar Bharati has partnered with Google and YouTube to telecast live the whole Independence Day programme conclusive of Narendra Modi’s speech from the Red Fort. On an average, 1.5 to 2 million people watch the event every year.

Talking about the online broadcasting of the event, Shashi Shekhar Vempati, CEO of Prasar Bharati Board, told The Hindu, “Live stream of the Independence Day event from Red Fort is a high viewership event. In order to give it greater visibility, both in India and abroad, we partnered with Google. Apart from YouTube, it will be available on the Google homepage”.

Digital broadcast of the Independence event on the Google will be hosted by Doordarshan’s anchors from the Red Fort, for the first time. Doorshan will also be broadcasting the PM’s Speech in the 20 different regional languages which will telecast later that day.

“Doordarshan is usually associated with nostalgia. So by increasing the digital presence, we are making younger generation aware of Doordarshan who have never seen an era when there were only two or three channels. ” Mr. Vempati added.

The service of YouTube was first used in the live streaming of The Donald Trump’s inaugural addressing as a President of the USA in January last year.
