PM Modi's I-Day Speech Highlights on Schemes &Policies to Upscale India's Overall Growth
On celebrating its glorious 72nd Independence Day this year, the people of India witnessed the most awaited propitious speech delivered by Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi, from the ramparts of the monumental Red Fort, in the final year of his current tenure. The highlights of his nearly 90-minute long speech reiterated the growing lucrative successes of the Indian Economy over the past four years under his leadership. Additionally, prominent developmental schemes and policies were addressed with respect to the healthcare sector, women rights and farming, including a space-operation to send an Indian ‘Son or Daughter to Space’.
Spiraling-up the Healthcare sector& Boosting Farmers’ Income: As addressed in light of the Healthcare sector developments, the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Abhiyan under the National Health Protection Scheme (Asyuhmaan Bharat) is aimed to cover over 10 crore poor families forming nearly 50 crore beneficiaries who would receive up to 
5lakh a family, per year. The scheme is said to be launched on 25th, September on the occasion of Deen Dayal Upadhyay’s birth anniversary. Quoting the words of the PM, “The healthcare initiatives of the government will have a positive impact on 50 crore Indians. It is essential to ensure that we free the poor of India from the clutches of poverty due to which they cannot afford healthcare”.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister used the occasion to iterate his government’s resolve to double farmers’ income by 2022. He commented on the same stating, “We aim to double the income of farmers by 2022. A lot of people raise doubts about this. But we are firm in our decision”. This, he also mentioned, was the leitmotif of his governments’ agenda. The speech further addressed the government’s recent decision to raise the minimum selling price (MSP) on food grains at an unparalleled level.
Vouching on Women Empowerment & Crimes against Women: The speech addressed the woes of the women in the armed forces who sought a permanent commission, for which the Modi government has assured to grant. He further said that this move will enable women officers to get the same opportunities as their male counterparts. However, the Prime Minister did not elaborate if this was open for all the branches of defense forces (to permanently commission women officers), which is relying on the decision of the Supreme Court. “I want to give good news to my brave daughters -- women officers in armed forces will get a permanent commission through a transparent selection process by Short Service Commission,” stated the PM.
On a further note, while referring to the increasing crimes against the female population in the country, PM Modi stated he will take up necessary actions to do everything to ensure justice for the women of the country.
Reviving Hopes on an Indian Space-Mission: Applauding the efforts of the scientists in the country, PM Modi on his I-Day speech tagged value and pride to the successful Mission Mars in its very first attempt. In that spirit, the PM went on to announce that an Indian ‘son or daughter’ will go to space in a ‘Gaganyaan’ on the 75th anniversary of Indian Independence. He stated, “We have dreamed that by 2022 we will send an Indian space shuttle piloted by an Indian and become the fourth country to put a human in space”.
Claiming that the status of India’s ranking in the world economy stands at six, the PM wrapped up his speech alleging that his government was committed to delivering a new era ‘Navyug’ for India executing,“housing for all, power for all, water for all, sanitation for all, skill for all, health for all, insurance for all and connectivity for all”.
