Kiss of Love Organizers Undeterred by Police Orders

Explaining the reasons given by the police for denying permission to conduct the event, the organizers wrote, "We haven't got an official 'letter of denial' which would formally state reasons for refusing us the permission to protest. Contrary to some media reports, we submitted proper details in our initial request letter, including details pertaining to date, time, and venue. It's disappointing to hear that we have been denied permission because we didn't submit adequate information to the police, which is baseless."

Reacting to a renewed demand for the protest to be held, city police commissioner M N Reddi said, "Obscenity is not allowed in public as per section 294 (a) of the IPC; so if the organizers go ahead with the event despite not being given permission by us, they will be considered law-breakers and necessary action will be taken according to the law."
