India's Political Bigwigs and Their Expensive Flights

BANGALORE: With Lok Sabha polls drawing closer, the star campaigners are hopping throughout the nook and corner of the nation to reach out to voters. For this, chartered planes and helicopters are saving the day quite literally for these leaders, who hold up to four or five public rallies a day. No wonder most of the political parties booked the chartered plane services much in advance - and they are certainly not shying away from splurging money. Here are names of the politicos and the expensive aircrafts mostly deployed for political activities, reports Yahoo.

Rahul Gandhi, Falcon 2000: The Congress vice-president, Rahul Gandhi's helicopter journey from one part of the country to another has become quite a routine for the past several years.

But, such journeys have been frequented as the LS polls are fast approaching. The Congress party accepts that the private jets and choppers used by Rahul borrowed from corporate looking to do a favor or paid for. The most expensive fleet frequently uses by Gandhi scion is fixed-wing aircraft Falcon 2000 (8-seater). It is a twin-engine, slightly smaller development of the Falcon 900 trijet, with transcontinental range. Companies like GMR, which is one of the biggest operators, are known to take bookings exclusively for the Congress leader with a cost of 2.85 lakh per hour.
