India's 11 Ordinary People with Extraordinary Tales


Bangalore: Ordinary people when show extraordinary powers they bring in the change which speaks of their exceptional skills and efforts. As adversities bring the best out of people here are the eleven Indians who were challenged by hard times and found ways to fight and overpower it, in order to live better and have inspired many in their own unique way, as reported by Economic Times.

Tamana Chona
Tamana Chona is one the special children who didn’t let her challenges repress her sprits. Tamana was s born with cerebral palsy and now is a teacher at the DPS Infant School in Delhi. Her academic advances are mainly due to the efforts made by the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS). She completed her class X and XII at NIOS, she said, “The teachers really helped me. And I made many friends. The best thing about NIOS is that all the people were helpful,” as reported by TNN. She is also the winner of the Dr. Batra’s Positive Health Awards.


Jyoti Prajapat
Jyoti Prajapat is the one who defies those who question the quality of education in government schools, located especially in rural areas. The nine year old from Baghsuri, Ajmer has made best friends with books and helps others enjoy the joy of reading. She has an array of books in the school library, which was made possible by the local NGO Disha when it partnered with Room to Read (RTR) in June 2011. The NGO started the library in Jyoti's government primary school. She said, “I couldn't read fluently initially. But, the stories interested me so much that I wouldn't miss a day. Now I read easily and daily.” RTR has started about 250 libraries in the district in which 148 are run with Disha’s partnership.
