Indians: New Hot Favorite for CIO Positions in the U.S.


Raghu Sagi Joined Inspire Brands, a global multi-brand restaurant company based in sandy springs, Georgia as the Chief Information Technology Officer on March 25, 2019. There he is responsible for leading technology initiatives across the venture, which operates casual dining restaurants such as Buffalo Wild Wings, Arby’s, and Sonic. Sagi was most recently Chief Engineering Officer for Sephora Americas where he was responsible for Omnichannel digital and data insights technology.

Sanjay Lall, an Indian born technology-based leadership expert, has been named as the CIO of Americold, the world’s largest owner and operator of temperature-controlled integrated infrastructure based in Atlanta on April 22 this year. Lall handles the responsibility of global IT along with the duty to ensure the highest level IT security to the customers. 

Mahendra Durai has been named CIO of Hearst on March 21, 2019. From 2011-2019 he served as Senior VP and CIO of CA Technologies, a New York-based IT management and software solutions company.  Durai reports to Mark E. Aldam, the executive VP of the organization.

Sony Jacob has been hired by SSM Health, one of the largest health care systems in the country based in St. Louis, to serve its highest technology position. Here Jacob will oversee the implementation of the health care organizations strategy and systems. Jacob has replaced Philip Loftus, former senior VP of SSM Health. 

Seemanthini Godbole appointed as the CIO of Low’s, an American retail company specializing in home improvement, on November 12, 2018. Here she is responsible for day-to-day operations of the information technology organization, which includes Lowe's digital, data and analytics, and innovation functions. Godbole has more than 25 years of experience in global technology. She was serving as the senior vice president, digital and marketing technology at Target Corporation, before joining the present organization, where she oversaw the company’s global e-commerce and loyalty technology strategy and operations.

Raj Kalathur, an experienced techie of Indian origin, has been appointed as the CIO of Monro, Inc., a well-known vendor of automotive undercar repairs, maintenance and retail tire sales on July 31, 2018. 

The series of appointments of Indians as the CIOs of American organizations is undeniably not an aberration, but a matter of pride for the Indian tech community.
